PROGRAM ÁGUA + ACESSO CONTRIBUTES TO THE ACCESS OF RURAL COMMUNITIES TO WATER AND SANITATION AND ALREADY BENEFITS AROUND 40 THOUSAND PEOPLE.
O The Iguá Institute for Sustainability has adhered to the “Água + Acesso” Alliance, a collective impact initiative that integrates 14 organizations in the country with the objective of expanding access to water and sanitation to rural communities in a sustainable manner.
The initiative encompasses substantial partners, innovative solutions and community management models that enable its continuance and expansion. The program is in line with the mission of the Institute that has been recently launched and idealized by Iguá Saneamento: contribute to make sanitation universal in Brazil, through the promotion of innovation and education for sustainable development.
The participation of Iguá Institute in the Água + Acesso Alliance relies on the investment of financial resources and hours of technical support, involving the team of the Institute and Iguá Saneamento. In addition, the Iguá Institute will participate in the Governance of the Alliance, contributing with strategic decisions, mobilization for the cause and attraction of new partners.
Launched in 2017, the Água + Acesso Alliance already benefits approximately 40 thousand persons, of 100 communities distributed in eight Brazilian states. Coca-Cola Brasil Institute and Iguá Institute are part of it as co-investors. Avina Foundation, World-Transforming Technologies (WTT) and the Trata Brasil Institute are also part of the initiative, as support organizations, in addition to the nine social organizations with wide operation in the communities of the serviced regions: SISAR-CE, SISAR PI, Central de Associações (BA) Projeto Saúde e Alegria (PA), Fundação Amazonas Sustentável (AM), Cáritas de Pesqueira (PE), ABES-ES, ASPROC (AM), CPCD (MG)
