Stockholm Junior Water Prize

Stockholm Junior Water Prize is an award created in 1997 by the Stockholm International Water Institute to raise youth interest in the challenges associated with water and sanitation and to drive innovative solutions for the cause.

The award is focused on young people aged 15 to 20 all around the world, enrolled in Vocational Schools and High School. It takes place in two stages: a national one, with more than 30 countries and thousands of young participants, and an international one, in which local winners compete in a grand final held in Stockholm (Sweden) during the World Water Week.

Instituto Iguá has supported the award since 2019, the year when it participated in the panel of technical judges on the national stage, offered mentoring to Brazilian finalists, and supported the travel of the winning group to the finals in Stockholm. Instituto Iguá was also an institutional supporter of the award in the 2020, 2021, and 2022 editions.

Having the opportunity to go to Stockholm and show my project helped me grow a lot. I think it really changed my opinion about some things and how I see the world, which is now bigger for me. I am very grateful to the sponsors for everything they did for me. These initiatives are much more than competitions. Seeing my work being featured there made me realize the actual weight of my effort and I wish other people had the opportunity to feel the same.
